A Place of Quantum Healing
We provide scientific-based therapies and modalities of healing to offer health and wellbeing to our clients. Our primary choice of bodywork is CranioSacral therapy which is a natural, gentle therapy performed while the client lays face-up on a therapeutic table. The client is fully dressed (preferably in loose, comfortable clothing). The trained therapist evaluates the body for symmetry, quality, amplitude and rate of the cerebrospinal fluid at various points on the body. The evaluation informs the therapist of a variety of information such as the location of restrictions, and what kind of dysfunctional patterns are present. The therapist releases tension from the tissue, and suggests correction while using the motion of the cerebrospinal fluid. We are using the client's body to promote healing.
Many wonderful healing stories abound through the use of CranioSacral therapy at the Rockton Healing Room. Often, clients book an appointment here as a "last resort" because nothing else has helped alleviate or cure their symptoms. After a few sessions of CranioSacral therapy clients have reported the disappearance of life-long maladies such as depression, chiari malformation, back pain, migraines, tumors, lymphoma, sleep disorders, sciatica, spinal cord injuries, central nervous system disorders, learning disabilities, autism etc. Many healing miracles happen at the Rockton Healing Room. Where did CST originate?
CranioSacral therapy was pioneered by Dr. John Upledger, an osteopathic physician who conducted extensive scientific studies between 1975-1983 at Michigan State University. While at MSU Dr. Upledger served as clinical researcher and Professor of Biomechanics. He discovered a previously unknown body system- the craniosacral system. Just like the other systems of the body (respiratory system, circulatory system, endocrine system, digestive system, etc.) the craniosacral system functions to keep the body running smoothly. Dr. Upledger discovered the craniosacral system's main components are the cranium (head), the sacrum, and the spinal cord. The spinal cord houses the central nervous system which, together with the brain, regulate the functions of the body. Dr. Upledger realized the importance of this system relative to healing. After studying the effects of certain movements and manual tissue manipulations- he created protocols for enhancing the functioning of the central nervous system to improve the body's healing process. He referred to these manipulations and protocols as CranioSacral therapy. Dr. Upledger would later train healthcare providers to treat the body using CST. His workshops and certification classes were initially offered to doctors, chiropractors, dentists, physical therapists, massage therapists, and nurses.
