CST is effective in treating the following diseases & conditions
Did you know a fall on your tailbone can result in headaches and/or depression?
The reason this happens is because the entire spinal cord gets compressed at the moment of impact. Shock, from the impact, travels up the spine and can compress (jam) the bones in the back of the head. Those same bones compress nerves that travel to the brain, which can lead to a psycho emotional depressive state. CST can decompress this “stuckness” in the back of the head and one’s mood will often lift as the therapeutic release of the compressions takes effect.
Did you know CranioSacral therapy can make deliveries easier?
CST is helpful in relieving stress to the mother and child in the prenatal phase of development; as well as during and post-delivery. Mothers who have received CST prior to and during delivery have experienced faster deliveries, less pain, less time pushing, and improved recovery. Moreover, when labor is intense yet ineffective, CST techniques are extremely effective in moving the patient to dilate and efface, thereby preventing C-sections and other complications.
Did you know CST can help a baby with colic to feel better?
This is due to abnormally high tension in the dura mater membrane (tissue surrounding brain and spinal cord), from the trauma of delivery, is the craniosacral problemThis high tension is then transmitted to the upper neck and head by the dura mater membrane system. The vagus nerve, which powerfully affects both stomach and bowel function passes out of the base of the skull in a position that can easily be compromised by this tension in the dura, thus causing discomfort and dysfunction in the baby's body- which is followed by episodes of colic. CST can relieve the tension on the vagus nerve to alleviate symptoms.
Did you know CST can help with digestive disorders?
Digestive disorders are often caused by a restriction at the base of the occiput (bone in the back of the head) this is a similar restriction as the previous "baby colic" but the symptoms in adults can be more acute. When the vagus nerve is compressed or inhibited, it will not relay commands from the brain to the digestive system. The brain's commands can become "scattered" and unharmonious- causing upset stomach, indigestion, irritable bowel syndrome, and more. A CST practitioner will locate the restriction of the vagus nerve and will remove the tension, thereby lifting the symptoms.
Did you know CST can help alleviate post-traumatic stress symptoms?
Trauma is not only held in the brain- it's also held in the body. "Tissue memory" is becoming a phrase that is receiving more scientific research. Doctors are beginning to find that we store patterns, or neurological signatures (like a memory) in our body's tissues (muscles, fascia, bones). CST can release the patterning in our tissue to restore the body to a sense of "normal"- the state before we experienced trauma. For more information on this fascinating topic see Dr. John Upledger's book Cell Talk and Brain Speaks.
Did you know CST can help with orthodontia?
CST often shortens the course of orthodontia and occasionally eliminates the need entirely. It is recommended that all children receive CST before beginning a course of orthodontic correction. If orthodontic correction has already begun, CST can help enhance the process of realignment.
Did you know CST can be beneficial for any kind of dis-ease?
Including learning disabilities, pre and post operation, autism, speech impediments, head injuries, and more. The reason this type of therapy can be so profound across the spectrum of dis-ease is because a certified therapist can hone in on the problem and quickly cause a major change by simply adjusting the central nervous system. CST deals with the nervous system and all the nerves that travel from the brain through the spinal cord. This system influences commands sent from the brain to all nerve endings (i.e. your eyes to blink, heart to beat, lungs to breath, etc.)
Negative life experiences can lead to the development of restriction in the body from anything that mentally, emotionally, and physically occurs; and that restriction can deny cerebrospinal fluid access to nerves. That this point the nerves are not working properly because they have been refused cerebrospinal fluid, and medical conditions begin developing; which are followed by painful or uncomfortable symptoms. Restriction can also deny cranial bones synchronistic movement with each other, which is followed by dis-ease or disharmony. CST is a therapy that eliminates these restrictions and returns the body to balance.
